September 2024. Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse.
This one wasn't born from a chance encounter, but from an idea. I could see an image in this motorway bridge before I even took out the camera. For several days, I turned it over in my head: the angle, the framing, the time of day, the light I wanted in the sky and the light I wanted on the road.
When the evening came, I was in position, tripod set, framing locked. And I didn't move again.
The sky and the road don't live at the same pace. The sky gives its best for just a few minutes, when the colours ignite. The road comes alive once night falls and headlights draw their lines of light. So I photographed one, then the other, from exactly the same spot, letting time pass.
The final image brings several shots together in a single photograph: a blend of different moments — known as "time blending" — between the sky and the road. Nothing in it is invented; everything happened right there, that evening, just not in the same second.
An everyday landscape that thousands of people cross each day without looking at it, transformed for the space of one evening.
